Timely access to healthcare services, including driver’s medicals!
Do I need a Driver’s Medical Exam?
In Alberta, you may be required to get a Driver Medical Examination. At River Stone, we follow Canada’s National Safety Code which sets the criteria used to establish whether a driver is medically fit to drive.
There are several reasons why you might need a driver medical exam:
• medical condition
• physical disability
• senior status
• commercial drivers with Class 1, 2, and 4 licences.
Age and Driving
Medical examination requirements have been set to protect the safety of aging drivers and those around them. For Class 3, 5, 6, and 7 drivers, medical reports are required at:
• age 75
• age 80
• every 2 years after age 80.
Commercial Drivers
For Class 1, 2, and 4 commercial drivers, medical reports are required:
• every 5 years until age 45
• every 3 years after age 45 until age 65
• annually after age 65.
If you need a driver medical exam, we offer timely bookings and thorough assessment with one of our Nurse Practitioners.
